Tintu Luka: 800m Round 1, Heat 3

Finished sixth 2:00.58s and failed to qualify for the final. 


Srikanth Kidambi lost to Lin Dan 6-21, 21-11, 18-21 in 68 minutes in men’s singles quarter-final. 


Aditi Ashok: Was seventh after the first round of three-under 68 at the Par-71 Olympic Golf Course. Aditi is Tied-7th and three shots behind the leader, Ariya Jutanguran of Thailand (65). Inbee Park of Korea is second with a score of 66 alongside Kim Seiyoung, also of Korea.

Aditi had three birdies on third, 10th and 14th holes. 


Women’s Freestyle: 48kg:

Vinesh Phogat got injured in her second bout and had to be carried off. She beat Emilia Alina Vuc (Romania) 4-0

She lost to Sun Yanan (Chn) 0-5 

Gold medal went to Kaori Icho (Japan) and silver to Valeria Koblova Zholobova (Rus) 

Women’s Freestyle: 58kg:

Sakshi Malik won a bronze medal. She won her first two fights and reached the quarter final, which she lost. As her winning opponent reached the final, Sakshi got into repachage. She won both her Repachage bouts to win a bronze medal.

Beat Marian Cherdivara Easnu (Moldova) 3-1

Lost to Koblova Sholobova Valeria (Rus) 1-3

Beat Orkhon Purevordj (Mongolia) 3-1

Beat Aisuluu TynyBekova (Kgz) 3-1 (Class Points) and 8-5 in Technical.


Sakhshi is the fourth Indian woman to win a medal; earlier ones were:

·      Karnam Malleswari (silver in weightlifting 2000)

·      MC Marykom (bronze in Boxing in 2012)

·      Saina Nehwal (bronze in Badminton in 2012)
