India sent its largest contingent ever to an Olympics Game with 117 athletes competing in 15 sports disciplines at the 2016 Rio Games. The Indian women’s hockey team saw a comeback into the Games after a gap of 36 long years. Among the other sporting disciplines competed in by its athletes, India made its Olympic debut in Golf (new to the 2016 Games) and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.
