The 1970 Edinburgh Games was the sixth appearance for India at the Commonwealth Games. The Indian contingent improved on its medal count winning a total of 12 medals in Edinburgh including its first in Boxing, a Bronze won by Shivaji Bhonsle. Remarkable was the Wrestling unit’s performance at the Games winning 5 Golds, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze.
