India's second appearance at the Summer Olympic Games was after a long gap of almost 20 years when the Games were held in Antwerp in 1920. India sent its Olympic team to Antwerp after a comprehensive training in London. Phadeppa Chaugule and Randhir Shinde put forth fairly good performances in their respective events in the Games. The first ever Indian contingent to appear at the Summer Olympic Games were:
